In the landscape of the Alta Murgia National Park, Castel del Monte, a Unesco World Heritage Site, overlooks the Murge hills from 540 meters above sea level.

Thanks to its characteristic octagonal plan, the castle is unique and easily recognizable. For this reason, it has been chosen as the logo of Torrevento, a winery that is a few kilometres away from the manor of the Emperor Frederick II of Swabia.

Torrevento arises in an ancient Benedictine monastery of the 17 century, which was built in an area that is seemingly barren and unwelcoming. The stone here is overpowering, being the best raw material for building typical local artefacts: from the dry stone walls that mark the properties, to the tanks for water storage, from the farms to the so-called "jazzi", the typical structures used as a sheep shelter.

This winery tells the history of the Liantonio family, which began in the last century and today speaks of great wines, exported all over the world. Torrevento wines are born from the perfect combination of tradition and innovation and deep knowledge of the territory and its raw materials: native vines, such as Nero di Troia, Bombino Bianco, Bombino Nero, Aglianico, Negroamaro and Primitivo, are grown in such a way to enhance the value of its characteristics to create an excellent product.

Over the years the company has been able to accept the challenge of modernity without forgetting the tradition. It is open to new experiences such as the hospitality in the vineyards as well as in the welcoming and well-kept tasting room, obtained from the ancient stable. Torrevento offers different visit and tasting itineraries. The basic one (Castel del Monte DOC) includes the tasting of three wines combined with taralli, bruschetta and olives. The most complete itinerary (Great tasting of Puglia) includes the tasting of four wines and a rich-tasting of typical products such as fresh and aged cheeses, focaccia and other Apulian baked goods, a selection of local cured meats, orecchiette with tomatoes and canestrato cheese. It is an immersion in an area that is rich in excellent products, surrounded by a natural landscape that coexists with human activities in a perfect balance.
