Castel di Salve was founded in 1885 by Antonio Winspeare. After more than a century it has been renewed thanks to the great-grandson Francesco who keeps on taking care of it with care and passion. Only old vineyards with great potential and the most suitable lands for planting and growing new vines have been selected.
An ancient winery from the late nineteenth century has been carefully restored with only one purpose in mind: to create exceptional wines.
A high-quality wine comes exclusively from high-quality grapes, which is why the agronomic management of the vineyards is personally followed, paying attention to every single detail every day.
The winery enhances Salento native grapes - Verdeca, Negroamaro, Primitivo, Malvasia Nera di Lecce - but other varieties are also grown, as long as they are exclusively Italian grapes.
The goal is to convey to the wines the splendid colour of the red ground of Salento, the scent of the Mediterranean scrub and the warmth of the sun to evoke the flavour of the sea.
