The I.G.T. designation refers to quality table wines produced in specified areas and with fine grape varieties. These wines must follow regulations that are less restrictive compared with those required for DOC and DOCG wines.
In some cases the choice to position a wine among IGT wines is due to commercial reasons as well as to the impossibility of positioning the wine among DOC or DOCG wines.
Failure to comply with the above-mentioned requirements prevents from marketing wine with the IGT designation.
The “IGT Puglia” designation is reserved for the following wines:
IGT “Puglia” white, red and rosé wines must be obtained from grapes that originate from a mixture of grape varieties; specifically from some grape varieties that have already been authorized and recommended by all provinces of Puglia (except Montepulciano and Ottavianello) with berries of their corresponding colour.
The IGT Puglia denomination refers to wines whose grapes originate from a mixture of grape varieties, with at least 85% of their corresponding grape variety: Aleatico, Aglianico, Bombino nero, Bombino bianco, Falanghina, Fiano, Greco, Malvasia bianca, Malvasia nera, Uva di Troia, Moscato bianco, Moscatello, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot bianco, Pinot nero, Riesling, Sauvignon, Primitivo, Negroamaro, Verdeca, Bianco d’Alessano, Pampanuto, Trebbiano, Sangiovese.

The production area of grapes whose wines and grape juice are recognized with the designation of IGT Puglia includes the following provinces: Bari, Brindisi, Foggia, Lecce and Taranto. (art.3, Disciplinare di produzione dei vini ad indicazione geografica tipica “Puglia”)
The designation “IGT Daunia” is reserved for the following typologies:
All IGT Daunia wines must be obtained from grapes that originate from a mixture of grape varieties; specifically from some grape varieties that have already been authorized and recommended by the Province of Foggia, with a minimum percentage of 85% and with berries of their corresponding colour.
The grape varieties of Montepulciano and Ottavianello are not included in this list. With a minimum percentage of 15% it is possible to have grapes of some grape varieties with berries of similar colour, not aromatic, that have already been authorized and recommended by the Province of Foggia.

The production area of grapes whose wines and grape juice are recognized with the designation of “IGT Daunia” covers the entire province of Foggia (art.3 Disciplinare di produzione dei vini ad indicazione geografica tipica “Daunia”.
The “IGT Murgia” designation is reserved for the following wines:
The designation “IGT Murgia” is reserved for the following typologies: white and sparkling white wines; red and sparkling red wine, Novello; rosè and sparkling rosè wine.
All IGT Murgia wines must be obtained from grapes that originate from some grape varieties that have already been authorized and recommended by the province of Bari with berries of their corresponding colour.
The “IGT Murgia bianco” qualification is reserved to wines and musts that have been obtained from grapes that originate from the following grape varieties: Bombino bianco, Chardonnay, Fiano, Greco, Garganera, Moscato bianco, Pampanuto, Pinot bianco, Bianco d’Alessano, Verdeca, Malvasia, Moscatello Selvatico and Sauvignon (minimum 85%).
The “IGT Murgia rosato” qualification is reserved for wines and musts that have been obtained from grapes that originate from the following grape varieties: Aglianico, Pinot nero, Sangiovese, Uva di Troia and Bombino nero (minimum 85%).
The “IGT Murgia rosso” qualification is reserved for wines and musts that have been obtained from grapes that originate from the following grape varieties: Aglianico, Aleatico, Sangiovese, Uva di Troia, Pinot nero, Cabernet Sauvignon and Primitivo (minimum 85%).
With a maximum percentage of 15% it is possible to find grapes of some grape varieties with berries of their similar colour, not aromatic, that have already been authorized and recommended by the Province of Bari.
The sparkling version of IGT Murgia wines is also present.
IGT Murgia wines are produced with one of the following grape varieties: Moscato Bianco, Moscato Selvatico, Primitivo and Aleatico, can be made in the typologies of abboccato (a wine with a smooth finish), smooth and sweet. The “IGT Tarantino” designation is reserved for the following wines:
The “Tarantino” IGT denomination is reserved for the following wines; white and sparkling white wines, red and sparkling red wines, novello; rosé and sparkling rosé wines.
IGT “Tarantino” wines must be obtained from grapes that originate from different grape varieties that have been authorized and recommended by the provinces of Taranto, with berreis of their corresponding colour.
IGT “Tarantino” rosé wines must be obtained from grapes that originate from different grape varieties (except Montepulciano and Ottavianello) that have already been recommended and authorized by the Province of Taranto and that have berries of black colour.
It is also possible to find grapes of some grape varieties whose berries are of similar colour and not aromatic and that have already been authorized and recommended by the Provice of Taranto (maximum 15%).
The denomination “Negroamaro” and “Malvasia nera” is reserved to grape varieties whose wine production contains: Negroamaro 70-80%, Malvasia nera 20-30%.

The production area of grapes from which are obtained wines and musts with the “IGT Tarantino” denomination includes the entire territory of the Province of Taranto. (art.3 Disciplinare di produzione dei vini ad indicazione geografica tipica “Tarantino”)
The “IGT Valle d’Itria” denomination is reserved for the following wines:
White IGT Valle d’Itria wines must be obtained from grapes that originate from some grape varieties that have already been authorized and recommended by the following provinces: Bari, Brindisi and Taranto.
“IGT Valle d’Itria red” wines must be obtained from grapes that originate from Negroamaro and/or Primitivo grape variety.
With a maximum percentage of 50% it is possible to include grapes of some grape varieties with black berries that have already been authorized and recommended by the Provinces of Bari, Brindisi and Taranto.
The IGT “Valle d’Itria” white wine designation is reserved for wines whose grapes originate from the following grape varieties: Verdeca, Bianco d’Alessano, Fiano, Malvasia, Moscato bianco, Moscatello selvatico, Pinot bianco, Sauvignon, Trebbiano, Chardonnay, Impigno and Bombino bianco (minimum l’85%).
The IGT “Valle d’Itria” red wine designation is reserved to wines whose grapes originate from the following grape varieties: Negroamaro, Primitivo, Malvasia nera, Sangiovese, Cabaret Sauvignon, Aleatico and Pinot nero (minimum 85%).
The IGT “Valle d’Itria” designation is reserved for wines whose grapes originate from the following grape varieties: Negroamaro, Primitivo, Malvasia nera, Sangiovese and Pinot (minimum 85%).
With a maximum percentage of 15% it is possible to include grapes of some grape varieties with berries of their corresponding colour that have already been authorized and recommended by the Provinces of Bari, Brindisi and Taranto. The production area of grapes whose wines and musts contribute to the creation of the IGT “Valle d’Itria” denomination, includes the following municipalities: Alberobello Locorotondo, Ceglie Messapico, Cisternino, Fasano, Ostuni, Crispiano e Martina Franca. The IGT "Salento" denomination is reserved for the following wines:
IGT “Salento” white and red wines nmust be obtained from Negroamaro grape variety.
It is also possible to find grapes that originate from grape varieties that have black berries and that have already been authorized and recommended by the following provinces: Brindisi, Lecce and Taranto (maximum 30%).
The “IGT white Salento” denomination is reserved for wines whose grapes originate from the following grape varieties: Bombino, Chardonnay, Garganega, Malvasia, Moscato, Pinot, Sauvignon, Trebbiano, Verdeca and Vermentino (minimum85%). The IGT red “Salento” denomination is reserved to wines whose grapes originate from the following grape varieties: Malvasia, Negramaro and Primitivo (minimum85%).
It is also possible to find grapes of some grape varieties whose berries are of similar colour and not aromatic and that have already been authorized and recommended by the Provices of Taranto, Brindisi and Lecce (maximum 15%).
The IGT rosé “Salento” denomination is reserved for wines whose grapes originate from Negroamaro grape variety (minimum 85%).
It is also possible to find grapes of some grape varieties whose berries are of similar colour and not aromatic and that have already been authorized and recommended by the Province of Taranto, Brindisi and Lecce (maximum 15%).
