Inside there are nineteenth-century paintings and a beautiful fresco on the vault of the central nave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leaving the church of San Giovanni Battista, walking through the narrow streets of the historic center, you reach Il Torrione delle Fogge which is the only surviving tower of the ancient walls.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<p>Do not miss to visit the small church of San Giuseppe and the Minaret of San Francesco, a noble residence influenced by the Moorish style with a very high tower-minaret.<\/p>\n\n<p>Moving a little away from the city we can reach the beautiful National Archaeological Park of Egnazia.<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile is-image-fill\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\" style=\"background-image:url(https:\/\/lestradedelvinopuglia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/5-1.png);background-position:50% 50%\"><img width=\"1200\" height=\"797\" src=\"https:\/\/lestradedelvinopuglia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/5-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5523 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lestradedelvinopuglia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/5-1.png 1200w, https:\/\/lestradedelvinopuglia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/5-1-300x199.png 300w, https:\/\/lestradedelvinopuglia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/5-1-768x510.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p style=\"font-size:23px\">The archaeological park is located within an enchanting naturalistic and environmental context and preserves numerous finds from the ancient city of Gnathia, among which you can admire the remains of the Via Traiana dating back to 109 AD. that accompanies the visitor on the way to the Civil Basilica, the square and the arcaded street, the Sacellum of the Oriental Divinities, the Amphitheater and the Forum.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<p>Outside the walls of the ancient city are the Messapian necropolis and the National Museum that takes us on a magnificent journey through time along thirty centuries of history.
